The research problem in a study begins to become clear when the researcher asks,\n<\/div>\n<div>What is the need for the study? To explore solutions to help retain teachers<\/div>\n<div>What problem influenced the need to undertake the study? Low teacher retention on the most challenging campues<\/div>\n<div>Research Tips for Writing the Research Problem\n<\/div>\n<div>Write an opening sentence that will stimulate reader interest\n<\/div>\n<div>Limit the use of long quotations\n<\/div>\n<div>Paraphrase the research\n<\/div>\n<div>Consider numeric information for impact (e.g., &#8220;Johnson, reported that every year, an estimate 5 million Americans experience the death of an immediate family member&#8221;(p. 34)\n<\/div>\n<div>Clearly identify the research problem (i.e., dilemma, issue) leading to the study.\n<\/div>\n<div>Ask yourself, &#8220;Is there a specific sentence (or sentences) in which I can convey the research problem?\n<\/div>\n<div>Indicate with research why the problem is important citing references that justify the need to study the problem.\n<\/div>\n<div>Make sure that the problem is framed in a manner consistent with the approach to research in the study (e.g., exploratory in qualitative, examining relationships, or predictors in quantitative and both approaches in mixed methods inquiry.\n<\/div>\n<div>Consider and write about whether there is a single problem involved in the proposed study or multiple problems that lead to a need for the study. Often multiple research problems are addressed in research studies (Creswell, J. W., &amp; Creswell, J. D., 2018, p. 5)\n<\/div>\n<div>Characteristics of a Good Research Problem\n<\/div>\n<div>It should:\n<\/div>\n<div>address a gap in knowledge\n<\/div>\n<div>be significant enough to contribute to the existing body of reach\n<\/div>\n<div>lead to further research\n<\/div>\n<div>render itself to investigation through collection and analysis of data\n<\/div>\n<div>be of interest to the researcher (Bwisa, 2018. n.p.).\n<\/div>\n<div>The Problem Statement\n<\/div>\n<div>Joyner et al.
