{"id":4823,"date":"2023-02-24T19:10:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T19:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodacademic.com\/blog\/questions\/who-we-are-a-chronicle-of-racism-in-america\/"},"modified":"2023-02-24T19:10:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T19:10:46","slug":"who-we-are-a-chronicle-of-racism-in-america","status":"publish","type":"questions","link":"https:\/\/www.goodacademic.com\/blog\/questions\/who-we-are-a-chronicle-of-racism-in-america\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;As I mentioned in an earlier post, no matter what issues&nbsp;we seek to address under the Social Justice umbrella, we&#8217;re probably going to find evidence of some kind of discrimination against marginalized groups (e.g. racism, sexism, ageism, etc.) and\/or some kind of economic disparity.&nbsp; Some of the nonprofits you will work with for this class may want to address issues of racism in their advocacy work.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recently, I ran across the documentary called &#8220;Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America.&#8221;&nbsp; It features Jeffery Robinson, an Harvard-educated attorney who was raised in Memphis, and who now is a racial justice advocate.&nbsp; &nbsp;This film, released in 2021, was extremely thought provoking to me, so much so that I felt compelled to share it with all of you and begin a dialogue about&nbsp; this shameful part of our nation&#8217;s history.&nbsp; Much of what Mr. Robinson talks about in this film greatly influences the advocacy work that individuals and organizations do around the issue of racism.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My son helped me to create a YouTube channel, where I could share this film with you without you having to purchase it.&nbsp; Here&#8217;s the instructions for accessing it:<\/p>\n<p>1.&nbsp; Log into You Tube<\/p>\n<p>2. Hit the &#8220;Sign In&#8221; button<\/p>\n<p>3. Input the User Name ( <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"mailto:uofm7645@gmail.com\"><u>uofm7645@gmail.com<\/u><\/a>) and the Password ( memphistigers23 ).&nbsp; The user name and password are all lowercase.<\/p>\n<p>4. Go to the right corner and press the &#8220;C&#8221; icon, which should bring up a drop down menu<\/p>\n<p>5. Drop down to &#8220;Purchases and Memberships&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>6.
