Thus<br \/>\nfar in the semester we&#8217;ve learned about the dialogue model of<br \/>\ncommunication, types of sustainability communications for different<br \/>\naudiences, storytelling and editing, fact checking, and interviewing.<br \/>\nYour mid-term task is to put all of this to work to write the script for<br \/>\n a TED-style talk, on the sustainability topic of meat production from factory farming operations in the United States.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Your TED talk script should be long enough to fill about 10 minutes<br \/>\nof time, which is roughly 1,000 -1,200 words. TED talks are part<br \/>\nstorytelling and part information sharing, and for this assignment your audience is university students and young adults who can change how we consume meat in the future and potentially find alternatives.&nbsp; Write your script with them in<br \/>\nmind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">To get started, I recommend consulting <a style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">this guide : <\/span>https:\/\/storage.ted.com\/tedx\/manuals\/tedx_speaker_guide.pdf <span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><a style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/a>and watching a couple of TED talks for inspiration. You&#8217;ll notice that<br \/>\ndifferent speakers use different approaches: some use storytelling more<br \/>\nthan others, whereas some speakers rely on interesting visuals or<br \/>\nunexpected ideas to make their point. There are many ways to do this<br \/>\nwell!<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">For this mid-term, you need to turn in two things: Your script<br \/>\n(1,000-1,200 words) and a short (~2 paragraph) supporting document<br \/>\nexplaining who your chosen audience is and how your choice of audience<br \/>\ninfluenced the communication choices you made in your script. You do <strong style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">not<\/strong><br \/>\n need to create a slideshow or other visuals.
