Op-ed is short for opinion-editorial. An op-ed piece provides the author an opportunity to share their perspective on a pressing issue or problem. The intent of this type of writing is to grab the reader\u2019s attention, educate them, and persuade them to take action.<\/span><\/p>\n

To prepare for this op-ed you will complete the following steps:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Submit your topic for approval. Search popular news sources (local newspaper, magazines, blogs, news channels, etc.) to find a current issue related to educational psychology. <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Submit your 4 sources for approval. Conduct a literature search to learn more about the issue and to form your opinion about how to effectively address it (at least 2 must be peer-reviewed journal articles).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Create an outline. Read your approved articles and take notes. Then, use your sources to create an <\/span>outline<\/span><\/a> <\/span>Download outline
    <\/a>for your op-ed<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Submit. Write your op-ed, using APA guidelines.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
