The practice implication of Watson\u2019s Human Caring Theory evolves our thinking and approaches to patient care from a mindset of carative (cure) to one of caritas (care). The core principles\/practice are founded on a:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Practice of loving-kindness and equanimity<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Authentic presence: enabling deep belief of other (patient, colleague, family, etc.)<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Cultivation of one\u2019s own spiritual practice toward wholeness of mind\/body\/spirit\u2014beyond ego<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\u201cBeing\u201d the caring-healing environment<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Allowing miracles (openness to the unexpected and inexplicable life events)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5em 0px 1em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Some individuals are comfortable framing their practice with Watson while others prefer different theories or a collection of theories. However, Watson is based on caring which is a foundation of nursing. Anyone could use the core principles to guide decision making.
