Complete a final project\/position paper on a major problem (retention for firefighters) to USFS <\/span>San Bernardino National Forest San Jacinto Ranger District Fire<\/span> and will require changes in how the department operates so it can continue to provides its service to the community.  Use this as a chance to apply all that you have learned in this program to research a solution that will aid your fire department and community.<\/span><\/p>\n


The style of the research paper must be in the format of a position paper for USFS <\/span>San Bernardino National Forest San Jacinto Ranger District<\/span> with the idea that this is to be submitted to the authority having jurisdiction (politicians) to clarify or correct a problem with the issue being addressed. As this is being written for politicians ensure that you write clearly and present any options and why you chose the option you did and the legal and regulatory backup for your decision. I have provided a document below on how to write a position paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Class, the only time you should ever use first person in an academic paper is when you are asked to do so.  Since this is a position paper, there will be times when you have to use first person.  Do not over use first person.  Use it only when absolutely necessary.  <\/span><\/b><\/span>Be sure that you back up your positions with a good source of information.  Using the statements “I believe” or “In my opinion” mean nothing to the reader if those beliefs are not backed up by credible sources.<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n

Your paper must be a minimum of 10 full APA formatted pages not counting the title page or the reference page and include 6 academically recognized sources. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The APA 7th<\/sup> <\/span>Edition Guides will be used for writing your paper.  I have provided a link to the guides at the bottom of this page.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please create your response in a Word document.

All writing assignments must include the following:

1. Title Page
2. Main Body – (Introduction, main body, and conclusion) – You must also include headings in the paper so that the reader can distinguish between your key points. Also, correctly cite your sources.
3. Reference Page (Be sure to pay attention to the indentions for each source).

Be sure to include a correct page number in the right margin of the header on each page of the paper.

All writing assignments must meet the following page setup:

1. Times New Roman font throughout the paper
2. 12 Point font size throughout the paper
3. Double Spaced
4. 1 inch Page Margins: Top, Bottom, Left and Right (Not 1.25 inches)<\/span><\/p>\n
