The most important channel for academic research is
\nthe peer-reviewed journal article. In a peer-reviewed <\/span><\/p>\n

journal article, a
\nscholar will: 1) propose a research question; 2) demonstrate the importance of
\nthis research question through analysis of relevant literature; 3) introduce a
\nstudy that will explore the research question; 4) detail and analyze the
\nresults of that study; 5) draw conclusions from that study.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before an article of this kind is published, it will
\nbe reviewed by other scholars who have published their own studies in this
\nfield. Typically, the identities of the study\u2019s author(s) are not shared with
\nreviewers and vice <\/span><\/p>\n

versa; this is to ensure that work is published based on its
\nown merits, rather than on the popularity or <\/span><\/p>\n

personal relationships of the
\nauthor. <\/span><\/p>\n

Reviewers will critique every aspect of the study and
\nprovide anonymous feedback. Often this peer review <\/span><\/p>\n

process will require
\nmultiple refinements or revisions of the study. The goal of this process is to
\nensure that when the article is published, it addresses a relevant research
\nquestion, it uses a sound methodological <\/span><\/p>\n

approach, it interprets data fairly
\nand accurately, and it draws sound conclusions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of every scholar is to publish a
\npeer-reviewed article. Before publishing a peer-reviewed article, <\/span><\/p>\n

though, it is
\nimportant for the scholar to develop skill in reviewing and critically
\nassessing such an article. <\/span><\/p>\n

That is the purpose of this assignment.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In this assignment you will submit a review and
\nevaluation of a single article, relevant to your dissertation <\/span><\/p>\n

\ninterest, that has been published in the past five years in a peer-reviewed

\nwhat data is collected. (For example: Is it a public opinion poll? An analysis
\nof historical budget data? A forecast of future COVID infections? An
\nexplanation of congressional voting <\/span><\/p>\n
