Select one quantitative<\/i> peer-reviewed research study
\npublished in an article related to your topic of interest. All articles must
\nbe of educational studies conducted and published in the United States or
\nCanada within the past five years.<\/b> You may not<\/b> use meta-analyses or
\nmeta-syntheses; all research evaluated must be original. You may not<\/b> use
\nlongitudinal studies.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

After thoroughly reviewing the study in the selected
\narticle, compose a full three-page review (not including the required title and
\nreferences pages). Brevity is crucial as it forces you to include only the most
\nessential information. An abstract should not be included.   <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the provided Research Critique: Quantitative
\nTemplate<\/b>,<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Provide a brief, three-sentence introductory
\nparagraph introducing the article and the purpose of the critique. Note the
\narticle author\u2019s last name with the appropriate in-text citation. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Under the Summary heading (Level 1), provide the
\nfollowing information. The short paragraph under each Level 2 heading (see
\ntemplate) should have at least three sentences.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nof the study<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Description
\nof participants\/sample (e.g., who, how many, selection method used)<\/span><\/p>\n

o  
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Research design(s) (e.g., experimental,
\nquasi-experimental, casual-comparative, descriptive, correlational, regression,
\netc.). See the Read: Quantitative Research: Common Types of Analyses and
\nResearch Designs<\/b> item in the Learn section of this module for comprehensive
\ninformation about research designs.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Method(s) of data collection (e.g., survey,
\ntest, questionnaire, GPA, etc.). Think about what types of data were collected,
\nwhen they were collected, and how.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Method(s) of statistical analysis (e.g., t-test,
\nANOVA, ANCOVA, chi-square, Pearson Product-Moment correlation, Spearman rho,
\netc.). See the Read: Quantitative Research: Common Types of Analyses and
\nResearch Designs<\/b> item in the Learn section of this module for comprehensive
\ninformation about common types of analyses.<\/p>\n

Note: If the article you selected does not identify
\nhow the data was statistically analyzed, it is likely the article is either not
\na quantitative study or not an actual research report but a summary of a study.
\nIn this case, you must select another article.<\/i><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Results \u2013 be specific
\nwith statistical data findings and provide a layman\u2019s interpretation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Under the Critical Analysis heading (Level 1), the
\nshort paragraph under each Level 2 heading (see template) should have at least three
\nsentences. Think critically through the research study\u2019s main points. Who was
\nthe intended audience? Did the author clearly communicate the main points to
\nthe intended audience? Did the author provide adequate support to back their
\nclaims? Also address the following items:<\/a><\/p>\n

\nstated in the article<\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Threats to validity or rival hypotheses not
\nalready discussed (validity of the research can be explored by discussing the

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Other original insights or criticism<\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Implications of the findings (who, possibly researchers or practitioners, can use the
\nfindings and how)<\/a><\/p>\n

\ncritiquing should be cited in this section to support your opinions of the
\nvalidity of the study, its research methods, and\/or findings.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

\nthe following in a minimum of five sentences:<\/span><\/p>\n
