While the base root does not hold true for every anti-infective group it does for many. <img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"chart diagram of antibiotices by class\" height=\"582\" src=\"https:\/\/grantham-saas.blackboard.com\/bbcswebdav\/pid-2655239-dt-content-rid-18076673_1\/xid-18076673_1\" width=\"579\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You can see from this chart that the root words: sulfa, oxacins, cillins, and mycins are not exact for each category. It is helpful, however, as the types are used for different pathological (disease-causing) organisms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explore the organisms that antibiotics are used for.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Include the following aspects in the assignment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make a simple chart for each of the six categories of antibiotics in the chart\n<\/li>\n<li>Research each category and under each describe the specific type of organism each might be used for (gram-positive cocci, gram-negative bacillus, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Include the illness that might be caused by the organism (gastroenteritis, pneumonia, skin infection)<\/li>\n<li>Cite any references. At all times proper grammar, sentence structure, and spelling. Copy and pasting are not allowed.
