You should take the feedback that you<br \/>\nreceive from your supervisor and use it to help you improve your performance. It also represents an<br \/>\nagreement between the supervisor and yourself as to the viability of the<br \/>\nproposed project and the criteria by which it will be judged. It is suggested<br \/>\nthat you adopt the following format in presenting your dissertation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Title or topic area of proposed<br \/>\nstudy:<\/span><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Your working title should reflect the<br \/>\ncontent of your proposal. The title should be focused and summative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">What<br \/>\nis the aim and objectives of your study?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">This section should contain your reasons<br \/>\nfor the particular focus of the study and the background literature to which<br \/>\nthe project relates. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">This is the important part of the proposal.<br \/>\nIt should tell the reader why you feel the research that you are planning is<br \/>\nworth the effort. This may be expressed in the form of a problem that needs<br \/>\nsolving or something that you find exciting and has aroused your curiosity. The<br \/>\nreader will be looking for evidence here that there is sufficient interest from<br \/>\nyou to sustain you over the long months ahead. This is also the section where<br \/>\nyou will demonstrate your knowledge of the relevant literature. Moreover, it<br \/>\nwill clarify where your proposal fits into the debate in the literature. You<br \/>\nwill be expected to show a clear link between the previous work that has been<br \/>\ndone in your field of research interest and the content of your proposal.<br \/>\n(Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, 2003, p.30)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Aims and objectives need to be focused,<br \/>\nmanageable, observable. See the section on how to write aims and objectives and<br \/>\ngrading criteria (3.1). You are encouraged to consider only one aim. Discuss<br \/>\nwith your supervisor if you are not clear about the number of aims and<br \/>\nobjectives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Brief review of relevant<br \/>\nliterature and rationale for study<\/span><\/b><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">This need only provide references of<br \/>\napproximately 6 key publications. It is not necessary to attach copies of the<br \/>\npublications. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Outline of study design and methods<\/span><\/b><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"> (Research Strategy<br \/>\nand Methodology)<\/span><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">It will detail precisely how you intend to<br \/>\ngo about achieving your research objectives. It will also justify your choice<br \/>\nof method in the light of those objectives. These two aims may be met by<br \/>\ndividing your method section into two parts: research design and data<br \/>\ncollection. In the part on research design, you will explain where you intend<br \/>\nto carry out the research. You will also need to explain the identity of your<br \/>\nresearch population. This section should also include an explanation of the<br \/>\ngeneral way in which you intend to carry out the research. Will it be based on<br \/>\na survey, interviews, examination of secondary data or a combination of<br \/>\nmethods? Here again it is essential to explain why you have chosen your approach.<br \/>\nYour explanation should be based on the most effective way of meeting your<br \/>\nresearch objectives. The research design section gives an overall view of the<br \/>\nmethod chosen and the reason for that choice.
