Elementary teachers and special educators must understand the relationships between classroom climate, motivation, and engagement to support an active and collaborative learning environment. Understanding these relationships allows teachers to create and use motivational strategies\/techniques that benefit all students and promote successful students and upstanding citizens both inside and outside of the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

Use grade band K-3, or 4-6 and create a graphic organizer for educators including strategies that would foster student active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the inclusive classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

Include three of the following disabilities in your graphic organizer. Research one extrinsic and one intrinsic motivational strategy\/technique for each of the three disabilities selected that would increase student engagement. <\/span><\/p>\n

Other Health Impairment such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)<\/span><\/p>\n

Autism, Asperger\u2019s or Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)<\/span><\/p>\n

Speech and language impairment<\/span><\/p>\n

Developmental delay<\/span><\/p>\n

Hearing\/Visual impairment<\/span><\/p>\n

Physical (hearing, visual, or orthopedic)<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on the disabilities you included in your graphic organizer, what classroom expectations may affect motivation and engagement for these students? Provide examples.<\/span><\/p>\n
