(a) Calculate the power radiated by the Sun if its surface temperature is about 5800 K.Assume that the emissivity of the Sun as well as that of Earth is equal to 1.0.(b) Assuming that the Sun emits as a point source, find the intensity of the solar radiationreaching Earth.(c) Taking into consideration the average reflectivity of earth which is 0.35, calculate theaverage radiation (watts) the Earth’s surface absorbs from the Sun. A steady state isreached when the Earth is absorbing and radiating energy at the same rate. From the lastequation you can find the effective temperature (in oC) of the Earth, without taking intoaccount the effect of the atmosphere.Astronomical data:Earth’s radius: 6300 kmSun’s radius: 7.0 x105kmMean distance between Earth and Sun: 150 x106km* Remember that the radiation power corresponding to the blackbody emission is given bythe following expression where T is measured in Kelvin.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a environmental engineering exercise and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
