    First, identify your source for this
    \n assignment. It should be one news article, available through the UMGC Library,
    \n published within the past 12 months.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Number your answers and\/or include
    \n the assignment questions so your instructor can see that you addressed each
    \n part of the assignment.<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Provide an
      \n APA-style reference for the news article you selected. The format for
      \n the reference is as follows:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Although the news article should be
      \n available through the UMGC Library, provide the URL directly to the newspaper
      \n that published the article. An APA reference entry does not<\/b> link
      \n to a library database record. It does include the URL of the newspaper
      \n homepage, such as https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com<\/span><\/p>\n

      • For your
        \n instructor’s reference, provide the URL to the article in the UMGC
        \n Library. This will be listed as “Document URL” in the library
        \n record:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Summarize the
          \n article. Explain the event or issue covered in the article, assuming
          \n your reader has little or no prior knowledge of it. Answer in 1-2
          \n paragraphs.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Describe a
          \n specific real-life situation (other than one discussed in your news
          \n article) where the issue at hand has been observed. This could be
          \n something that happened to you or someone you know, or it could be a
          \n related event in the news. Explain the connection to the event or issue
          \n in your news article. Answer in 1-2 paragraphs.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • What is your
          \n field of study and how do you see it relating to the event or issue in
          \n your news article? Answer in one paragraph.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • What do you
          \n want to know about the issue or event in your news article? List two or
          \n more questions that you could pursue as part of your research. Though
          \n you are listing two or more questions here, your research should
          \n ultimately be focused on a single guiding question.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Language Choices<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

          • As a writer,
            \n you are free to decide how you use language, keeping the following in
            \n mind:<\/span><\/li>\n
              \n
            • style<\/span><\/b>: your
              \n language choices should result in a consistent writing style that is
              \n purposeful and aligned with your goals<\/span><\/li>\n
            • readability<\/span><\/b>: your
              \n language choices should ensure that your ideas are clear and easy to follow<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            • When
              \n composing your assignment, think about the conventions for academic
