Writing Assignment #5: The Impact of Greater Female Representation in Policing and Correctio<\/strong><\/span>ns<\/p>\n

In a two-page double-spaced response [500 words, Times New Roman double-spaced, 12 point font<\/u>], students will consider the impact that more female police officers or more female correctional officers would have on their professions, the criminal justice system, the communities that they serve, and\/or society in general.  In particular, after the recent deaths of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Daunte Wright, Andre Hill, Manuel Ellis, Daniel Prude, Ahmaud Arbery, and Atatiana Jefferson by police officers, there are increased calls for reforms to the criminal justice system, especially law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Students should provide <\/span>three specific reasons<\/u><\/strong> <\/span>as to how more female officers in policing or corrections would be beneficial. Each reason should be well-developed, well-articulated, and well-supported based upon empirical research from class or outside resources.<\/p>\n

Please note that students can have a maximum of <\/span>three <\/span><\/u><\/strong>direct quotes in their papers; otherwise, paraphrase.<\/p>\n
