These posts,

depending upon the questions, should be at least 250 words (roughly two

paragraphs) long. They also should have in-text citations and references used

appropriately.

– Name a radiation-emitting item with which you have daily contact.

– Does it emit ionizing or non-ionizing radiation or both?

– How great a hazard (if at all) is it to you?

– How do you reduce the hazard of this exposure?

Please make sure to have in-text citation and proper APA style and reference for all the

information you use to. Answer these questions

Part 2

is a response post to another student’s post. 3-4 sentences, The response post should be

substantive (i.e., something more than “Great post! I feel the same way!) and at least two to

three sentences long.

THE OTHER STUDENT POST:

Many things we come into contact with on a daily basis can emit radiation more than we

know. A radiation-emitting item that i come into contact daily is my laptop. I use my laptop

everyday for school and work so i am constantly coming into contact with it. Computers

emit non-ionizing radiation. They emit a low-frequency and radio-frequency EMR. These

low-frequencies and radio-frequencies can come from the computer screen, power

supply, disc drive, and even the WIFI connected to the computer. In some ways this

radiation can be harmful to one’s health. “In fact, this radiation has been linked with many

serious diseases: Asthma, Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Depression, Heart Disease, Hormone

imbalances, Damage to nerves, immune system and reproductive systems.” (EM Watch,

2018) It has been proven that this type of radiation can be linked to have diseases. As this

many not be the leading cause to these diseases it can still be a factor and also the use may

need to be reduced.

Some ways we can reduce the hazard of the exposure to radio-frequency radiation is by

not sitting extremely close to the computers and laptops. We can also eliminate the time

of usage of the computers to a certain time limit. It is also very important to not be using

them before going to sleep at night. Computers also emit blue light which can cause

staring to your eyes and cause difficulty sleeping at night. Not using computers and

laptops at least an hour before should be able to help lower these risk factors.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a public health discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
