Write an essay of about 6 pages. Pick one novel\/novella or a single writer of a shorter work or works from this semester and provide an analysis. Your analysis should show how or in what ways the work(s) you selected are artifacts of English culture, history, or thought.  <\/span><\/span>In other words, how is this work particularly \u201cEnglish,\u201d or how was this work influenced by the history and culture of its times AND how did it contribute to that culture and history?<\/u> <\/span> <\/span>Include several secondary sources, in other words, critics\u2019 opinions. Don\u2019t use Google.  <\/span><\/span>Use scholarly resources from the school database or libraries. (You may also cite up to one of my YouTube videos if properly cited.) Ask for help from me or a librarian if you need it.  <\/span><\/span>Your essay should also use sufficient textual references from the primary source and\/or quotes to support your assertions. Provide an MLA formatted works cited page with appropriate in-text citations or attributive language.  <\/span><\/span>Don\u2019t forget to cite primary sources (the work(s) you will discuss) as well in your works cited page.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Most publishers prefer Times New Roman, and I am requiring it, so be sure to locate and use that font on your word processor.  <\/span><\/span>Do not use cursive fonts and do not italicize or bold face. Your paper should be written in twelve-point size. The text should be double-spaced. You should also double-space the name, course, and date information on the top left-hand corner. Follow the margin set in Microsoft Word.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note that you must include your last name with the page number. The title should not be underlined, italicized or in quotation marks.
