The possible topics are:<\/p>\n

Famous people from the past and\/or present. For example: artists, musicians, architects, scientists, conquistadores, leaders, celebrities, etc…
\nIf you choose to research a famous person, make sure your assignment is NOT just a biography of the person. Please explain\/reflect on the historical and cultural significance of the person.
\nImportant historical events, past or present, and\/or social issues such as: relationships between the USA and other countries, drug trafficking, poverty, deforestation, religion, illiteracy, education, the rights of the native people, etc.
\nArchitectural styles, famous historical monuments, famous historical cities, archeological discoveries, etc.
\nAncient cultures such as the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Incas, and\/or different people from the rain forest.
\nNatural resources, wildlife, natural phenomenon.
\nNational dishes, holidays and traditions, styles of dance and\/or music.
\nYou may browse your textbook for inspiration! (Look for the “Nota Cultural” and “A Leer” sections)<\/p>\n

Criteria: <\/p>\n

Must show evidence of reasoned reflection and depth.
\nPlease do not just list facts. Summarize what you learned about your topic and explain how your topic is related to\/impacts Spanish Culture.
\nMust be neatly typed, double-spaced, 12 point regular font, one-inch margins, and 1-2 pages in length. Please do not exceed the 2 page limit.
\nMust be uploaded directly to Canvas. Please do not attach the Cultural Assignment to the “comments” section.
\nOnly documents with the extension .doc or .docx will be accepted.
\nIf you are unable to upload your paper to Canvas for any reason, please email it to me by 11:59pm on July 25
\nYou do not need to cite your sources. The plagiarism checker in Canvas (Turnitin) will identify\/list your sources for you.
\nPlagiarism will result in an automatic 0% on the assignment.
\nThe Cultural Assignment must be written in your own words
\nThe Cultural Assignment should not have any information that has been copied\/pasted (unless you are including a quote)
\nSimilarity levels greater than 20% in Turnitit will be investigated for plagiarism.
