\npossible by trade, transportation, communication, and technology developments. In
\naddition, globalization enables organizations to expand their markets beyond
\ndomestic borders, reach more consumers, and expand into new revenue
\nstreams. <\/span><\/p>\n This alluring and competitive market has led to the
\ndevelopment of global supply chains, multinational corporations, and increased
\nproduction specialization. Therefore, companies must establish an efficient
\nlogistics and transportation network to exploit these opportunities. In today\u2019s
\nglobalized world, transportation and logistics operations are crucial to
\nthe global economy because they facilitate the movement of raw materials,
\nservices, and people across national borders. Transportation and logistics encompass functions
\nand services such as supply chain management, warehousing, transportation, and
\ndistribution. Globalization and supply chain management are closely
\nintertwined. Supply Chain Management (SCM) includes the planning, execution,
\nand management of the flow of goods from raw material to manufacturing,
\ndistribution, and finally to the end consumer. SCM best practices encourage a
\nclimate that supports global commerce and economic expansion.<\/span><\/p>\n Effective supply chain management ensures on-time delivery of
\nproducts to customers, thereby lowering costs and enhancing customer
\nsatisfaction. Over the years, the increasing demand for goods and services has benefited
\nthe economy, transportation, and logistics industries. Unfortunately, globalization
\nhas increased economic activity, subsequently increasing resource consumption. It
\nhas led to unsustainable rates of natural resource exploitation, resulting in
\ndeforestation, overfishing, and depletion of nonrenewable resources. The
\nexpansion of international trade has also increased industrial production,
\ntransportation, and energy consumption. As a result, these activities often
\ngenerate substantial quantities of pollutants, greenhouse gases, and debris,
\ncontributing to air, water, and soil pollution and climate change. The reliance
\non fossil fuel-powered transportation, such as ships, airplanes, and trucks,
\nhas also contributed to increased carbon dioxide emissions and air pollution. <\/span>Due

\nprioritize sustainability to mitigate environmental impacts, improve
