The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is responsible for conducting open market operations, one of the Federal Reserve system’s key tools of monetary policy. The FOMC meets eight times per year to review economic and financial conditions and determine actions to take with regard to monetary policy.<\/p>\n

  2. What is the target range for the federal funds rate? In July, did the FOMC take any action to modify this target range?<\/li>\n
  3. What did the FOMC decide to do with regards to purchasing Treasury securities and asset-backed securities? Is this decision and example of expansionary or contractionary monetary policy?<\/li>\n
