We will explore the industry of Leadership Development and the business it constitutes. Primary reading sources for week 3 will be pages 27 through 64 in the <b>Future of Leadership Development text <\/b>(attached again for your convenience to the this week&#8217;s home page), and please do not forget to reference 3 current and relevant articles from literature to reinforce your ideas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: inherit; margin-right: inherit; margin-top: inherit; margin-bottom: 1.5rem; padding: inherit; font-size: 19.8px; line-height: inherit; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;You will be required to investigate these ideas and use current literature (citing original sources 2019-2023) to identify their place in the body of knowledge now. It is a glimpse into the history of Leadership Development and how we ended up where we are today.&nbsp;<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: inherit; margin-right: inherit; margin-top: inherit; margin-bottom: 1.5rem; padding: inherit; font-size: 19.8px; line-height: inherit; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">In this week&#8217;s Moodle shell, you will find a textbook called The Future of Leadership Development. <\/span>&nbsp;Chapters 1 and two on pages 27 through 64 are of particular relevance to this week&#8217;s content. You will use this book again moving throughout the course.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">The questions for reflection can be found in the PDF file entitled &#8220;Learning Activity&#8221;. The authors present the idea of Leadership Development as an \u201conion model.\u201d Below are the<br \/>\nfive layers of leadership development in this model. How is each defined? How might they be<br \/>\nused? What is the value of each? What are the challenges?<br \/>\na. Me as a Leader (Self)<br \/>\nb. Leader of a Team<br \/>\nc. Leader of an Organization<br \/>\nd. Leader in a Profession<br \/>\ne. Explore the idea of Leadership Development \u201cGurus\u201d. What are the benefits of a guru<br \/>\napproach? What are the disadvantages or obstacles to a guru approach? Have you had any of<br \/>\nthese experiences in your own development? What ideas need to be considered from the<br \/>\n\u201cbuyer side\u201d and from the \u201csupplier side\u201d of leadership development (productization)?<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: inherit; margin-right: inherit; margin-top: inherit; margin-bottom: 1.5rem; padding: inherit; font-size: 19.8px; line-height: inherit; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;4. What are the important metrics that need to be considered in measuring the effectiveness of<br \/>\na leadership development program? Chapter Four offers an investigation into three key ideas in the evolving field of leadership<br \/>\ndevelopment. These are highly interconnected. For each key idea, please provide an<br \/>\nexplanation of the idea and its application. Also discuss the challenges and opportunities for<br \/>\neach in the future.<br \/>\na. Responsible Leadership<br \/>\nb. Vertical Leadership Development (in contrast to Horizontal Leadership Development)<br \/>\nc. Throughout chapters 3 and 4 the authors make several references to the multi-generational<br \/>\nworkforce and the differing perspectives brought to the work of Leadership Development by<br \/>\ndifferent generational groups- Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Baby Boomers. Chapter 4 also offers<br \/>\na glimpse into the broader idea of role models. Why are role models valuable? Why might the<br \/>\ntheory of a role model be different today than it was in generations past?
