Select a live-action (not animated) feature-length film and analyze its use of
\n<\/span>cinematic elements to derive the film\u2019s central idea<\/span>(s) or theme(s). Discuss
\n<\/span>the film\u2019s use of <\/span>form, mise-en-scene, cinematography, sound design <\/span>and
\n<\/span>editing <\/span>to articulate your understanding of the film and the overall style of
\n<\/span>direction<\/span>.

    –  This must be a formal essay. Develop a thesis and support your
    \nargument with specific evidence.
    \n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    –  <\/span>Identify the film\u2019s themes and layers of meaning, analyze the
    \n<\/span>techniques in relation to those themes and meanings.
    \n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    –  In developing your thesis, you should be as specific as possible. It is
    \nnot enough to say <\/span>\u201c…the cinematography reveals the central theme
    \nof the film.\u201d <\/span>What techniques of cinematography reveal this? Is it the
    \naspect ratio? Is it the choice of lenses? Or the depth of field? Be
    \nspecific.
    \n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    –  Quote directly from the outside sources and from the film itself. Any
    \naccredited citation format is acceptable. Include a bibliography.
    \n<\/span><\/p>\n

    You must include at least three (3) cited academic sources (primary or
    \npeer-reviewed secondary) in your analysis, you may use assigned class
    \ntexts as two of these sources. Feel free to include screenshots from the film
    \nto illustrate your points.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n
