While the origins and focus of those laws in particular have changed over time, the relationship between governments and the governed remained stable only when the governed could rely on their government to uphold their own laws. This ultimately gave rise to the notion of \u201cthe social contract\u201d \u2013 that any government rules only by consent of the people that they govern. More specifically that the legitimacy of any agency that creates laws only comes from the people who agree to place themselves under those laws. As we have seen in recent lectures particularly on political order, the enlightenment, and Age of Revolution, and more importantly current events we are now witnessing first hand, when the governed do not feel that their government or its agents serve their needs or have their best interests at heart, the governed take action to respond. Considering some of these recent topics we\u2019ve covered, and current events unfolding in our own world, what do you see as the critical factors that drive a populace to resist ineffective or oppressive government enforcement of \u201corder?\u201d What characteristics are shared across these events of resistance, rebellion, revolution, and protest that we\u2019ve seen play out in the history that we\u2019ve covered and what we are seeing today?
