In this paper, you will analyze some aspect or part of the primary source. Avoid sources that are only one or two pages or just a few paragraphs. <\/span>Begin by discussing the historical background of the author\u2019s life and the experiences, events, or issues discussed in the source. To do this, you will need to use at least two scholarly books( seconday books) that cover the appropriate time period, person, or topic. You cannot use a textbook as one of these secondary sources. The <\/span><\/span>scholarly books must be full-length books with footnotes\/endnotes and bibliographies.  <\/span><\/span>You may not use websites, encyclopedias, dictionaries, or on-line encyclopedias.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Do not just summarize the source! Discuss the historical background (be specific and give details), and present conclusions for a question or aspect of the source you have investigated. <\/span><\/span>The goal is to analyze some part of the primary source, NOT to simply describe an event or summarize a person\u2019s life!<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>
