Scholarly Paper Proposal: <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

The Scholarly Paper Proposal option is designed to address
\nhow the researcher would plan a qualitative research methodology to investigate
\na strategic communication management issue or study a communications problem.
\nThe capacity to know how to identify, collect preliminary information on and
\ndevelop a research plan for a communications issue is important to
\norganizational success. After reviewing course materials, consider a
\ncommunication issue or problem that is of concern in your workplace or in an organization
\nof interest to you and create a qualitative research design to study the issue.
\nSee Table 19.2 in Daymon and Holloway and follow this overall format: <\/span><\/p>\n



\n1. Introduction \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Background – Briefly provide
\nsome background information to the organization.<\/span><\/p>\n

Significance of issue \u2013
\nDescribe the issue and why it is significant, especially as related to
\nstrategic communication.<\/span>

\nPurpose of the study – Identify a strategic
\ncommunications issue or opportunity where a qualitative research study could
\nassist decision making and issues management.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Literature review \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n

As part of
\nthe preliminary information gathering process, conduct a literature review on
\nthe issue. <\/span><\/p>\n

In writing
\nyour review, note that with a literature review the researcher critically
\nanalyses what has been written and relates it to the specific problem he or she
\nis addressing. <\/span>

\nDefine the specific research question(s) for the
\ngeneral problem.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n



\n3. Methodology \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Identify a qualitative
\nresearch method (in-depth interviews, focus groups, etc) that could be used to
\naddress the identified problem. Justify with reasons, your choice of method.<\/span>

\nUsing the qualitative method discussed in the
\nprevious task, develop a qualitative research plan detailing how you would
\nconduct the research that addresses the research question(s).<\/span>

\nThe research plan should address, at least, the
\nfollowing:<\/span>

\nWhat type of issues\/questions should be
\nexplored? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(If using focus group,
\nprepare the moderator\u2019s guide; if using in-depth interviews, prepare the
\ninterview guide; if an audit, provide the audit instrument. Include the
\ncollection instrument in an appendix)<\/span>

\nHow many groups, interviews or case studies
\nwould you recommend?<\/span>

\nHow will you select the sample of research
\nparticipants?<\/span>

\nLocation \u2013 i.e. where should the interviews
\n\/groups be conducted?<\/span>

\nHow would you propose the data be analyzed?
\nProvide sufficient detail (See Daymon and Holloway Part IV) so that a peer or
\ncolleague could execute the study<\/span>

\nWhat are the ethical implications of your
\nresearch, and how will they be addressed?<\/span>

4. References in APA Style \u2013 Be sure all in-text references
\nare included in the reference section<\/span><\/p>\n

A written report of 1500-2500 words (excluding title page and
\nreferences) is required for this assignment.<\/span>

\nThe report should be written in APA style and follow
\nthe standard academic requirements including an appropriate list of cited
\nreferences. Review Purdue Owl and xxxx for appropriate format and style
\nguidelines. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The report must be submitted by the due date to be accepted. <\/span>

\nIn preparing the assignment the following
\nconditions must be followed:<\/span>

\n1. No actual research involving the collection
\nof primary data from human participants should be performed, i.e., interviews,
\nobservation, focus groups, surveys, ..etc.<\/span>

\n2. Identities of the organization and its
\nemployees should not be disclosed in the assignment. This means removing any
\ninformation in the assignment which could potentially identify the organization
\nand its employees.<\/span>

\n3. The assignment should not contain any private
