After reviewing course materials, consider a<br \/>\ncommunication issue or problem that is of concern in your workplace or in an organization<br \/>\nof interest to you and create a qualitative research design to study the issue.<br \/>\nSee Table 19.2 in Daymon and Holloway and follow this overall format: <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">1. Introduction \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Background &#8211; Briefly provide<br \/>\nsome background information to the organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Significance of issue \u2013<br \/>\nDescribe the issue and why it is significant, especially as related to<br \/>\nstrategic communication.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Purpose of the study &#8211; Identify a strategic<br \/>\ncommunications issue or opportunity where a qualitative research study could<br \/>\nassist decision making and issues management.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">2. Literature review \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">As part of<br \/>\nthe preliminary information gathering process, conduct a literature review on<br \/>\nthe issue. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">In writing<br \/>\nyour review, note that with a literature review the researcher critically<br \/>\nanalyses what has been written and relates it to the specific problem he or she<br \/>\nis addressing. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Define the specific research question(s) for the<br \/>\ngeneral problem.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">3. Methodology \u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Identify a qualitative<br \/>\nresearch method (in-depth interviews, focus groups, etc) that could be used to<br \/>\naddress the identified problem. Justify with reasons, your choice of method.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Using the qualitative method discussed in the<br \/>\nprevious task, develop a qualitative research plan detailing how you would<br \/>\nconduct the research that addresses the research question(s).<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">The research plan should address, at least, the<br \/>\nfollowing:<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">What type of issues\/questions should be<br \/>\nexplored? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">(If using focus group,<br \/>\nprepare the moderator\u2019s guide; if using in-depth interviews, prepare the<br \/>\ninterview guide; if an audit, provide the audit instrument.
