OVERVIEW<\/span><\/p>\n



\nAn important part of doctoral study is to base research on scholarship past and
\npresent. For the

\nChristian statesman, the added requirement is that the research incorporates the
\ndemands of

\nScripture. To survey the relevant scholarship and the Scripture that
\ninforms it, researchers

\nconduct reviews of scholarly materials to inform their research and identify
\nwhere their

\nresearch fits within the scholarship framework. Toward that end, you will write a series

\nof literature review papers that pertain to federalism and their chosen area of
\npublic policy (social policy).<\/span><\/div>\n


\nINSTRUCTIONS
 All papers will
\ninclude a title page, Abstract, introduction

\nbody of the paper, appendix, and list of references.<\/span><\/div>\n

Literature Review: Final Paper Assignment\u2013Write a final
\nliterature review paper of 15

\nto 20 pages which include sections from the previous two papers and an
\nadditional

\nsection that draws conclusions from your review of the literature. You will
\nconclude with

\na discussion of how your research question fills a gap in current scholarship
\nand the

\nprospects of your question for your future research. Post this assignment by
\n11:59 p.m.

\n(ET) on Sunday of Module 7: Week 7. Provide at least 25 peer-reviewed articles,

\nquestion\u2014The centerpiece of this course is the Literature

\nReview Assignments The centerpiece of the assignments is the research
\nquestion,

\nhow existing scholarship informs that question, and where your research
\nquestion fits in

\nthe body of scholarship, past and present.

\n\u00b7<\/span><\/span> Focus on peer-reviewed
\nresearch\u2014The focus of these assignments is on peer-reviewed

\nsources found primarily in academic journals. It would be best to find out where your
\nresearch

\nfits in the framework of existing scholarship.

\n\u00b7<\/span><\/span> Focus on the
\nendgame\u2014Discuss the literature demonstrating the gap

\nin existing research about your research question and how your research
\ncan fill

\nthat gap.

\n\u00b7<\/span><\/span> Focus on synthesis, not
\njust analysis\u2014With analysis, you will review each article and

\nlook at the different parts (research question, hypotheses, variables,
\nfindings, etc.); with

\nsynthesis, you will use those parts and organize them to discuss how the
\nliterature

\ninforms your research question.

\n\u00b7<\/span><\/span> Focus on organizing
\naround concepts, not studies\u2014Your organization for preparation

\nfor the literature review assignments is to review one article and then the
\nnext article.

\nHowever, do not write the literature review that way. Rather, organize the
\nmajor headings

\naround the most important concepts related to your question, not around
\narticles. As you

\norganize your concepts, use the language of relationship and
\ncomparison\/contrast to show

\nthe connections within the concepts and between the concepts.<\/p>\n

1. Structure: The paper has proper headings as provided in the assignment template. Subheadings and transition statements are effectively used throughout. 2. Research: Paper includes at least ten peer-reviewed articles and required materials (but no more than two required materials that are not peer-reviewed articles). 3. Worksheet: The appendix contains a worksheet that is filled in and reflects extensive research and accuracy in recording information.<\/span>

1. Focused: The paper is narrowly focused on an empirical research question that is clearly stated and stated as a question. 2. Biblical: The Bible and biblical principles are developed in the theoretical framework. 3. Theory: A federalism theory\/model is identified and contains at least a definition and analysis of the theory\/model, along with how the theory\/model applies to the specific federal relationship being researched. The chosen theory\/model is compared to rival theories\/models and shown to be the best explanation. 4. Federalism: Federalism concepts are prevalent in the research question, the theory discussion, and the list of references. 5. Synthesis: Characterized by several points with many supporting sources as opposed to few supporting sources. The paper is organized around major concepts, not articles.<\/span>
