You may select any current issue to develop your researched argument. However, be sure to consider your own biases and the backfire effect when developing a solid topic. Additionally, consider opposing viewpoints as part of the development of the researched argument. All topics must also be approved in advance during the prewriting process (week seven).<\/p>\n

 One caveat for topic selection, I respect and value your ability to practice your religion, however, topics may not explore moral arguments. If these types of arguments interest you, I highly suggest signing up for one of our philosophy courses that cover moral and religious arguments.<\/div>\n

This means topics such as abortion and euthanasia are not allowed as topics. Exploration of topics specific to a religious sect or creed are also not acceptable. Additionally, you may NOT pick any of the following topics: abortion, gun control, the death penalty, or the legalization of recreational marijuana. I don’t think you can add much to the debate over these topics and I’ve read them ad nauseum. Additionally, I will not accept papers with arguments based around conspiracy theories and unverifiable research.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
