Your essay must be approximately 1,000 to 1,200 words in length (about four double-spaced typed pages).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">As you write,<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 700; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">integrate information from your research<\/span>. Every time you paraphrase or quote, follow these four steps to cite and integrate the source properly:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 2.5em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"padding-top: 5px; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.4em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Introduce the source.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 5px; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.4em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Present the research.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 5px; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.4em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Credit the source parenthetically.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 5px; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.4em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Discuss.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 15px; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5em; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">In other words, include \u201cquotation sandwiches\u201d and \u201cparaphrase sandwiches\u201d in your essay. Don\u2019t just drop in quotations or paraphrases from sources into your essay. (In MLA style, this page is titled \u201cWorks Cited,\u201d while in APA style it is titled \u201cReferences.\u201d) Take this task seriously. We expect you to pay very close attention to detail and follow samples for each entry. We recommend the<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"cursor: auto;\"><em style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Purdue Online Writing Lab<\/em><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span>(<em style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">OWL<\/em>)&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 0.78em; line-height: 1; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\" aria-describedby=\"new-window-2\"><\/span><\/a><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span>for all citation matters.
