Purpose:<\/span><\/b>  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of this
\nassignment is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to
\ncreate a comprehensive Inquiry Based Outline, which is a detailed outline for a <\/span>Term Paper the student may use to write a future research-based term paper<\/span>. <\/b>The Inquiry Based Outline <\/b>is intended to provide students with a
\npragmatic exercise in preparation of a detailed outline for a Term Paper that
\nanswers a <\/b>specific question in Psychology. <\/span>Upon successful completion of
\nthis assignment, students will be able to demonstrate their ability to create a
\ndetailed Inquiry Based Outline for some future Term Paper. <\/span><\/p>\n

Assignment: <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Students must select a
\ntopic from the list of twelve (12) psychology topic questions provided by your
\ninstructor.  <\/span>The Inquiry Based Outline
\n(i.e., a detailed outline for a Term Paper) <\/i><\/b>must have at a minimum three (3)
\nsub-sections that must be supported by one (1) Academic (Peer Reviewed) Journal Article <\/span>for each of the three
\n(3) sub-sections. The supporting Academic Journal Article should provide a
\nsource of information discussed in the sub-section. <\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Your Annotated Bibliographies will have: <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1)   
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>An Introductory Paragraph <\/span><\/b>provides
\nthe reader with an overview of what the paper will be about.<\/span><\/p>\n

2)   
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Three (3) Sub-sections<\/span><\/b> with at
\nleast one (1) Academic (Peer Reviewed)
\nReference<\/span> <\/i>for each sub-section.<\/span><\/p>\n

3)   
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>A very brief Conclusion<\/span><\/b> that
\nsummarizes why this information is important to understand.<\/span><\/p>\n

4)   
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>A Reference Page<\/span><\/b> that lists all
\nacademic sources used in alphabetical order by the surname of the lead
\nwriter\/researcher. Students must use the correct APA format prescribed by the
\nAPA (7th<\/sup> Ed.) Manual.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is essential that
\nyour <\/i>Inquiry Based Outline be well-organized
\nand facilitate a progressively building argument <\/b>(i.e., discussion), <\/b>which
\nprovides the reader with a sense of continuity between your sections.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.    <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Introductory
\nParagraph\u2026<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The purpose of an Introductory Paragraph is to inform the reader what
\nthe rest of the paper will discuss \u2013 section by section. <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

(BUT\u2026 never call this
\n‘Introduction’ \u2013 always the \u2018Title of your paper)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7      <\/span><\/span><\/span>You
\nmust begin by introducing the paper with a strong Thesis Statement that
\ncaptures the reader\u2019s interest that encourages them to read more;<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00b7      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Present
\nthe overall question, which you intend to be answer within your paper;<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00b7      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Explain
\nwhy answering this question and presenting this information is important for
\nthe reader to know; and, <\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00b7      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Briefly
\nlists the topics of your three (3) sub-sections, which you will discuss within the
\npaper.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

2.    <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Create
\ndetailed research paper outline that has three (3) Sub-sections<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Following the Introduction, students will develop their three (3) point
\noutline, as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For each of the
\nthree sections<\/span><\/u>: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

a)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Students must introduce each
\nsub-section with an introductory paragraph<\/i><\/b> discusses the topic of the subsection
\n(similar to the first introductory paragraph) that;<\/span><\/p>\n

o  
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>I recommend you format the thesis statement (i.e., theme) of the
\nsub-section in the form of a question that you intend to answer within the
\nparagraph; and,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

b)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Briefly explain the topic of the
\nsub-section;<\/span><\/p>\n

c)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Explain why this important information
\nto learn about;<\/span><\/p>\n

d)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Introduce an \u2018Appropriate Source\u2019
\n(e.g., a journal article that addresses this issue);<\/span><\/p>\n

e)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Place the full APA Reference (i.e.,
\nthe same reference format used on Reference page); <\/span><\/p>\n

o  
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>At least one (1) Academic (Peer Reviewed) Journal Article for each
\nsub-section;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

f)     
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Explain how this academic source helps
\naddress the main research question; <\/span><\/p>\n

g)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Identify the primary author and why this
\nauthor (s) is\/are subject matter experts:<\/span><\/p>\n

o  
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>What their personal academic credentials, and <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

o  
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Have they previously published in other academic journals;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

h)    
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>If you cannot identify the author\u2019s
\ncredentials, then note what Academic (Peer Reviewed) Journal Article he has
\npublished in; and,<\/span><\/p>\n

i)     
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Endeavor to use a transition sentence
\nthat connects one sub-section to the next.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.    <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Provide a
\nvery brief Conclusion <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

A Conclusion is not the writer’s opinion and you don\u2019t simply restate
\nwhat you already said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7      <\/span><\/span><\/span>The
\nConclusion in this assignment is usually only one or two sentences long, and<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00b7      <\/span><\/span><\/span>A
\nConclusion endeavors to draw some conclusions based on what was already discussed.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

4.    <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Provide a Title
