\nTobacco was a significant commodity in Ottoman lands, and the Tobacco Regie was established
\nto regulate its production, distribution, and sales. The Regie was an important institution that had
\na profound impact on the local economy and society. This thesis aims to explore the institutional
\norganization of the Tobacco Regie in Ottoman lands and its impact on local tobacco producers
\nand traders. The introduction will provide a brief historical background on the Tobacco Regie, its
\nobjectives, and how it functioned. The purpose of this thesis will also be stated, which is to
\ndecrypt the institutional organization of the Tobacco Regie on the local level, examine its bilateral
\nrelations with the Ottoman state apparatus, and narrate and explain the relationship and clashes
\nbetween the Regie company and the local tobacco farmers\/traders.
\nPART 1: The Organizational Basis of the Tobacco Regie Company
\nThis section will examine the organizational structure of the Tobacco Regie company. The focus
\nwill be on the company’s objectives, how it was organized, how it functioned, and the regulations
\nand policies that it implemented. This section also will explore the regies soft power on the state.

\naffected the local economy and society. Also, some evaluations on a socio-political level will be
\nmade. (Yet I am not exactly sure if I want to do these evaluations on these paragraphs or in the
\nconclusion. ) The section will also examine the company’s bilateral relations with the state
\napparatus and its influence on the local tobacco industry.
\nPART 3: Narrating and Decrypting the Relationship and Clashes between the Regie Company
\nand Local Tobacco Farmers\/Traders

\nand local tobacco farmers and traders. It will examine the primary and secondary sources to

\nand how they were resolved. Practically this is the part which will nurture the paper with
\nnarrations and case studies, and I will try to make some conclusions regarding the overall impact
