\nsense or murder more specifically?<\/span> How
\nso or why is this shown?<\/span> Your examination should compare similar
\nthings and contexts. Aim to be specific in identifying ONE main difference or
\nimportant overlap; avoid including several similarities and\/or differences as
\nthis will likely result in a descriptive hamburger essay without a clear focus.
\nThis means focusing on what exactly in these novels helps the criminals plan
\nand execute their crimes and\/or how the detectives are able to uncover this

\nthe course texts.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.    <\/span><\/span><\/span>We practice this in the close reading posts and the modules also include
\nexamples.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.    <\/span><\/span><\/span>You can check the Useful Links section for additional resources on close
\nreading.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.    <\/span><\/span><\/span>No additional research<\/span><\/u> should
\nbe included with this essay option (the focus is just on the course texts).<\/span><\/p>\n

Note that English papers generally:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2714\ufe0f<\/span> include<\/span> <\/span>a thesis at the end of the introductory<\/span><\/b> paragraph <\/span><\/strong>that
\ntakes a position and explains “so what?” or how this is shown and why
\nit matters (a thesis should be debatable rather than a statement of fact or
\nobservation and it should have one focus rather than list three things)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2714\ufe0f<\/span> include<\/span> <\/span>developed body paragraphs<\/span><\/b> that
\ndirectly support the thesis (a good length is half to no more than a full
\ndouble-spaced page with a standard 12-point font)<\/span><\/p>\n

\nsub-arguments (but no subheadings in such short papers since these will
