“Writing” Assessment
\nA summative assessment<\/p>\n
Writing is an ultimate skill that reveals the power of the mind and imagination. People with wide
\nimagination usually make good writers. However, this skill is enhanced and refined through
\nreading both, fiction and non-fiction texts. Knowing the conventions of story writing is an essential
\nelement to produce a remarkable story. In the following assessment, you will endeavour to
\nproduce a piece of writing you can be proud of.
\nGRASPS:
\nGoal: write a short story in the 3rd person omniscient point of view, and then rewrite the
\nsame story in the 3rd person limited point of view or vice-versa. The Omniscient
\nversion should range between 2,000 \u2013 2,500 words.
\n– It is preferable that your story addresses a current local or global issue.
\nRole: You assume the role of a professional writer.
\nAudience: students in the PYP through the DP \u2013 Make sure that your stylistic choices in
\nterms of linguistic, literary and visual devices appeal to them.
\nSituation: You want to contribute to a school magazine with a memorable story, in a
\ncreative way.
\nProduct: in the form of a Google doc:
\n1. a story in the 3rd person omniscient point of view, of 2,000 \u2013 2,500 words
\n2. the same story in the 3rd person limited point of view (no word limit)
\nStandards\/Criteria for success: Your product will be assessed against Criterion-C
