ESSAY STRUCTURE<\/span>
As you start to outline and organize your argument, consider the target audience that you are trying<\/span>
to persuade. For Essay #3, you will need to:<\/span>
<\/span>1. Write an introduction paragraph that introduces the graphic novel, the essay topic, and your thesis statement\/claim.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
2. Write two grounds paragraphs that use ethos, pathos, and logos to present strong and clear reasons and evidence from the graphic novel supporting your thesis statement\/claim. <\/span><\/div>\n
3. Write two rebuttal paragraphs using ethos, pathos, and logos to defend your thesis statement\/claim against two opposing viewpoints that your target audience may have about your thesis statement, with both rebuttals supported by evidence from the graphic novel.<\/span><\/div>\n
4. Finally, in your conclusion paragraph, make a closing argument as one last effort to convince your target audience to agree with your thesis statement.<\/span><\/div>\n

In terms of providing evidence in support of your thesis statement\/claim, you should use panel<\/span>
images as visual evidence (images from the graphic novel), and directly quote or summarize textual<\/span>
evidence (narration and dialogue in the graphic novel) that supports your thesis statement. No other<\/span>
sources are required for this assignment. Cite the author\u2019s last name and page number anytime you<\/span>
cite any textual evidence, and cite the artist\u2019s last name and page number anytime you cite any<\/span>
visual evidence. You do not need to create or turn in a Works Cited page.<\/span>
