By completing this project, students will demonstrate proficiency with the following <\/span>common course objectives:<\/span>
1. Critically analyze and apply data derived from psychological research on Adolescent <\/span>Psychology.<\/span><\/p>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n

2. Analyze, and evaluate information on Adolescent Psychology found   in film, television, <\/span>radio, print, and information technology resources.<\/span>
3. Apply concepts concerning adolescent development to one\u2019s own experiences or <\/span>someone else\u2019s, and a culturally diverse community.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>4. Communicate the understanding of adolescent development concepts in written, oral,<\/span>and\/or signed format.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>5. Describe the relevance of ethnicity, gender, religion, age and race to understanding <\/span>differences in such areas of adolescent development as the effect of parenting styles on <\/span>adolescents, sexual expression,           relationship patterns, treatment of adolescents, gender<\/span>roles, and other topic areas.<\/span><\/div>\n

6. Demonstrate knowledge of informational technology tools for accessing interpreting and <\/span>expressing knowledge of adolescent psychology in a rapidly changing world.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Assignment Directions:<\/span>
Students must choose a scientific article (Research article) of your choice<\/span>. After a<\/span>selection, has been made and the article has been located using the college\u2019s library <\/span>database, students are to write a<\/span> <\/span>multi-paragraph<\/span> <\/span>summary (minimum 2 pages) based on <\/span>the different parts of the article (see below for more detailed information).<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Papers should include individual paragraphs based on the following     headings:<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> <\/span>Introduction<\/span>– An introductory paragraph introduces the reader to the topic of your paper and <\/span>states the thesis of the research. For the          purpose of this assignment, the introductory <\/span>paragraph should describe the research topic presented within the selected article as well as<\/span>
the main points discussed throughout the article.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>\uf0b7<\/span> <\/span>Rationale<\/span>– Trace the logical reasons for this research based upon the findings of previous <\/span>research. In other words, what prior findings discussed in the selected article led the <\/span>researchers to the current experiment?<\/span> <\/span>For example, if researchers wanted to do a study <\/span>about a new medication to be given to children, then part of the rationale (e.g. reasoning) <\/span>might be that no one has researched the medication on children before. Another possibility <\/span>could be that the medications currently used with children have been found to have serious<\/span>
side effects.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> <\/span>Methods<\/span>– Describe the subjects, procedures, and measurement tools used in the study.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> <\/span>Results<\/span>– What were the findings of the researchers? Although you a<\/span><\/div>\n
  e not expected to <\/span>interpret advanced statistics, it is reasonable that you understand the summative statements <\/span>in the section.<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> <\/span>Discussion\/Conclusion<\/span>– What does the experimental evidence add to the existing <\/span>knowledge? How did the authors critique their own research?<\/span>
\uf0b7<\/span> <\/span>Critical Thinking<\/span>– In what ways do the research findings fit with the content you have learned<\/span>
in Adolescent Psychology<\/span>? How might the evidence impact people during their lives? <\/span>How does this research apply to diversity (e.g., age, gender, race, ethnicity, and\/or<\/span>
religion), and to the global perspectives?<\/span>
\uf0d8<\/span> <\/span>Example: the effect of early intercourse on young girls from different cultures, and <\/span>different religion in various countries (Girls from Middle eastern countries, Vs <\/span>European\/American countries).<\/span>
\uf0d8<\/span> <\/span>Eating disorder, body image in different countries (Babies as a role model vs being <\/span>big, and having stretch marks are seeing as a sign of beauty in some African<\/span>Countries).<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Papers should include a reference page with the article citation. <\/span>Your <\/span><\/div>\n
paper should be written in American Psychological Association (APA) format<\/span>. It <\/span>is not necessary to write an abstract for this assignment.<\/span> <\/span>Psychology APA paper link<\/span><\/div>\n
