your task will be to write a summary of the person\u2019s life and
\naccomplishments, and be sure to include WHY they are significant in World History, in their own time, AND
\ntoday. You can weave the \u201cwhy significant\u201d into the summary of accomplishments, OR emphasize it at the end
\nof the paper (or both!). As you are researching and deciding what to include, remember the \u201cFive Ws\u201d: Who,
\nwhat, when, where, and why. (And as alluded to above, the \u201cwhy\u201d means why significant, then and now.)
\nPaper Length, Formatting, etc.
\nThe paper will be at least two pages of writing, and there is no need for a cover page. You can put your name
\nand the name of the person you have chosen as the subject of your paper at the top. The paper will be doublespaced, using Times New Roman (or similar font), 12 point. Your Citations and Works Cited page will
\nfollow the standard Modern Language Association (MLA) formatting. (If you prefer to use APA or Chicago
\nStyle, this is acceptable, but please discuss with your instructor.) The 9th Edition is the current edition for the
\nMLA Handbook, which can be found at many libraries, or can be purchased. You can also download it for free
\nat MLA Handbook (literariness.org). Even better, there are some excellent online resources for MLA formatting
\navailable for free; the below tab goes directly to Purdue University\u2019s Online Writing Lab (OWL):
