Instructions<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>Create a 7-10 slide<\/b> PowerPoint
\npresentation with recorded voice over (4-5 minutes) <\/b>and creative
\nelements that covers ONE<\/u> of the topics bellow.  <\/span>Use the assigned sources listed with the
\ntopic you chose and draw on concepts, definitions, fact, arguments, and world
\nviews presented this semester. Upload your presentation to Lea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Topic 1<\/span><\/u>: 
\n<\/span>i.  <\/span>Pick one <\/b>of the
\nfollowing websites: the NCCIE (<\/span> https:\/\/www.nccie.ca\/knowledge-space\/)  <\/span>OR<\/b> the First People\u2019s Story Telling
\nInitiative<\/span> (https:\/\/fppse.net\/
\n) ii. identify the mission\/purpose and leadership behind the website iii.  <\/span>provide an overview of what is included on
\nthe website iv. identify a specific Indigenous-led project, organization,
\nmovement etc. on the website that promotes cultural resurgence and\/or
\nself-determination in a specific area\/domain (education, arts, business,
\nhealthcare, child services etc.) vi. connect your discussion to the history, world
\nview and present-day realities\/context of colonization and the shift towards decolonization
\nv. discuss the worldviews behind decolonization.  <\/span>Please note: your power point must not only
\nuse the article or video from the websites listed above but also draw on at
\nleast 3 different documents, and multiple relevant concepts introduced this
\nsemester such as the TRC, class class lectures, Inendi<\/i> etc.).  <\/span>This
\ntopic counts towards the Indigenous Studies major.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>The voice-over\/script<\/u>
\nfulfills the criteria of the assigned topic. 
\n<\/span>In doing so, it identifies, discusses and state significance of the key
\npoints in the assigned materials and connects them to the overarching topics
\nand themes of the course (world view, shifts, reciprocity, sustainability,
\nequity etc.) and provides in-depth detail and critical engagement
\n(vague\/general\/superficial discussion may earn failing grades).  <\/span>The voice-over\/script is organized, accurate, academic,
\nmakes use of proper terminology, is insightful, is clearly presented and has a narrative
\narch.  <\/span>(Please note: I will not
\ncollect\/grade written copies of the script ) (10 points)<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Verbal communication<\/span><\/u> is well-paced, clear, organized. Key points are emphasized and the
\nspeaker engages the listener and uses appropriate rhetorical strategies.  <\/span>(2 points)<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>The PowerPoint<\/u>
\nhas a clear, creative title that identifies the topic to be discussed.  <\/span>There is continuity of design in the PowerPoint
\npresentation.  <\/span>The layout and design of
\nthe slides is simple, sharp, edited, organized, clear\/easy to follow and
\nartistic and makes use of design techniques introduced in class (colour theory,
\nfont, design, etc.). Images, giffs and videos on the PowerPoint slides are integrated
\nskillfully and artistically illustrate\/teach the ideas\/arguments being presented
\nin the voice-over in an engaging manner. 
\n<\/span>The colour, font, images and words on each PowerPoint slide match and
\ncompliment the order or the ideas\/arguments being made in the voice-over but
\nthe power point slide does not include the entire written script word for word <\/u>(Powerpoint
\nslides are not a place for showing the entire script- put your notes\/script in
\nthe note section at the bottom of the screen in the section that does not
\nappear to the viewer).  <\/span>The design
\nelements in the PowerPoint amplify and help teach the themes\/ideas presented in
\nthe voice-over in a tasteful, creative, and professional\/academic manner.  <\/span>(6 points)<\/span><\/p>\n
