Part 1- <\/span><\/p>\n

Students will develop a community need assessment plan that addresses an underserved population’s selected public health problem. As a public health leader, you need to complete each step efficiently to produce an accurate assessment of the community’s health needs. The starting point of a community health needs assessment is to know why you are conducting the assessment and how you will use the assessment results. Once you thoroughly understand the purpose of a community health needs assessment, you will conduct the assessment and utilize its results more efficiently and fruitfully. For this Assignment, students will do the following: Describe your community and a population within the community; Describe the specific population (e.g., the elderly, African-American adolescents) within the community that you will use to conduct the community health needs assessment; The background and history of the chosen population; The rationale behind selecting this particular population; A description of the population’s socioeconomic factors; A description of health equity or health disparity issues impacting the selected population; and built environment barriers or strengths. Students will explain their understanding based on the resources and apply it to your chosen community. Students will explain three overarching goals for your community health needs assessment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Part 2- <\/span><\/p>\n

Needs Assessment–Walking Survey: <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>Students will develop walking surveys which are systematic observations made while walking through a chosen community. Windshield surveys are systematic observations for data collection while being in a moving vehicle. Windshield or Walking surveys provide an objective viewpoint of the surveyed community. This, in turn, helps them to accurately assess a community’s health needs. Students will use either type of survey to invite and mobilize the community to participate in programs. <\/span> <\/span>        <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
