Part Two of the Capstone Project is the <\/span><\/span>Final Paper<\/span>. Each student will write a 12-15 page Final Paper that examines and communicates their Capstone Project in detail.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.2.1 F<\/span>INAL <\/span><\/span>P<\/span>APER <\/span><\/span>G<\/span>RADING <\/span><\/span>R<\/span>UBRIC<\/span>* <\/span><\/span>Followed Directions: 10 points<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Paper is appropriate length.*
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Margins, font, and spacing are all according to paper guidelines.
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Sources, both in-text and within the bibliography, are formatted correctly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Research: 20 points
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>There are a sufficient number of sources (will vary for different topics).
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Sources are nearly all from peer-reviewed journals or edited volumes (your topic may<\/span><\/p>\n

merit use of non-peer-reviewed material, confer with instructor).
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Sources are appropriate for, and adequately represent the scope of, the subject.<\/span><\/p>\n

Summation of the Research: 30 points
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Clearly understood the problem or topic being discussed.
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Clearly understood the various arguments and theories on the subject. <\/span><\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Did not quote other authors \u2013 could summarize work using own words. <\/span><\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>All data provided is well supported with citations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Analysis\/Explanatory Approach: 20 points<\/span><\/p>\n

For students who did statistical tests<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Tests carried out were appropriate for the question.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Reasonable interpretation of results. <\/span><\/span>For students who did traditional thesis papers<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Provided a strong thesis that outlined an argument (not just stating the obvious). <\/span><\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Did more than summarize sources, but provided critical thought on the research. <\/span><\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Presented sources in a way that showed how they connected with each other.
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Source data was used to effectively support main argument\/thesis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grammar and Writing Style: 20 points
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Few (if any) typos or grammatical errors.
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Well structured, clearly written, and easy to understand.
<\/span>\u2022 <\/span><\/span>Used professional language (avoided use of slang, contractions, etc.)<\/span><\/p>\n
