Throughout this module, you have been reading articles etc. related to your future career\/major. You\u2019ve also identified an issue within the field that you find significant or important. As a writer, it\u2019s important to take into account the genre (the style of writing) as well as the purpose and the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n

For this assignment, you will write a letter. This letter could take the form of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

-a letter to an editor of a newspaper<\/span><\/p>\n

-a letter to a person of power within a company\/organization etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

-a letter to an elected official<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Whatever genre you choose, be sure that it reflects to your research question. In other words, what is your purpose in composing this letter? To whom will it be addressed? What is motivating you to write this letter? Will it be directed to an individual or the public at large?<\/span><\/p>\n

The letter should be four pages double spaced and should include four outside sources. (At least one of these sources should be from the library databases. The letter should be formatted according to MLA 8 and should include correct in-text citations and Works Cited list. <\/strong>(Of course, an actual letter would likely not be formatted in this way. However, for our purposes, you are showcasing your understanding of MLA 8 and are demonstrating your skills in this area so you will be using this formatting.<\/span>)<\/span><\/p>\n
