You will explore the content from the two pieces you chose from our Anthology to develop a strong stance\/point of view through comparing and contrasting them. Relative support through research will effectively help you come to an educated position on your chosen pieces.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">Don&#8217;t forget literary and rhetorical devices: metaphor, symbolism, tone, topic, character, style, literary lenses, allegory, and so on&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; padding-left: 80px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">Again, the goal of this paper is to find two pieces that have connective &#8220;threads,&#8221; through either comparison or contrast, or both, and thoroughly explore those connections. You must use stories, plays, or poems we read over the course of the semester. You may use literary devices such as symbolism, metaphor, theme, irony, tone, style, perspective, etc., to help support your assertion. Try to balance your research through the effective use of<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><i style=\"cursor: auto;\">logos, ethos, and pathos.&nbsp;<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"margin: 6px 0px; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.5; cursor: auto; color: rgb(250, 250, 253);\">Your paper will follow this specific format: (The entire paper MUST be written in 3rd person perspective)<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-left: 25px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">~<strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">An introduction<\/strong>\u2014that includes a hook, general information about the pieces you are writing about, explains why the connections\/differences are important, and any other relevant expository information, and then end the paragraph with your thesis statement.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">~<strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">Thesis statement<\/strong>\u2014a specific, complex thesis statement with a compare\/contrast structure.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">~<strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">Supporting Paragraphs\u2014<\/strong>that explains\/supports your thesis.<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>(as many paragraphs needed to support your claim(s) and to show the commonalities and\/or differences)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">~<strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">Conclusion\u2014<\/strong>that restates the claim(thesis), summarizes the support used for the claim, and offers a fresh perspective on the topic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">I will be paying particular attention to your<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">thesis statement<\/strong>, as well as your ability to<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"cursor: auto;\">stay focused on the argument set forth in your thesis<\/span>.
