Try to<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">avoid both pitfalls.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">The paper proposal<br \/>\nshould be more than an outline. It should state the research question,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">outline the relevant<br \/>\nfacts that you will research, possible lines of arguments and the way you<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">want to test your<br \/>\nhypotheses, and give a detailed list of appropriate literature.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">S<\/span><\/b><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">uggestion<\/span><\/b><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"> from Professor- <\/span><\/b><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">is that you either look at the EU, which is<br \/>\ncurrently trying to formulate its response to the US-China tensions (Macron and<br \/>\nvon der Leyen in Beijing) or, even better, look at Brazil as China&#8217;s main<br \/>\ntrading partner in Latin America.<\/span><\/b><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">With this case study, you can start to test your<br \/>\nhypothesis. I only doubt the practicality of hypothesis <br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\nII: Countries often do not have the means to boost R&amp;D and investment<br \/>\nsufficiently to make up for a loss of trade. And regarding Hypothesis I: Are<br \/>\nthere any good alternatives to US and China? Can&#8217;t a country like Brazil rather<br \/>\ntake advantage of these tensions, but attracting more Chinese trade and<br \/>\ninvestment and offering itself as an alternative to China as a relatively cheap<br \/>\nproduction location?<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\nThe last idea could also work for Mexico, which is best placed to replace China<br \/>\nas the industrial machine for the US market.<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">So perhaps the best research question is: Are<br \/>\nthere ways for emerging countries to take advantage of the growing US-China<br \/>\ntrade tensions?<\/span><\/span><\/b><b style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A paper of about 10 pages (roughly 20,000 characters incl. spaces) is due on Wednesday, automatically run through the Turnitin plagiarism test.
