In addition to historical analysis, students will be asked to envision a future for that event, issue, or policy and challenge themselves to identify ways they can be a part of that more just future.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Students are asked to identify:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 40px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">A current event, issue, or policy within Higher Education that is important to them personally and\/or professionally (examples could include&nbsp;the Supreme Court discussions around affirmative action, recent changes to Title IX, Florida&#8217;s HB 999, or basically any student activist event in recent years).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">How does this event connect to the historical events and themes we are exploring in this course?<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">What types of action are taking place or could take place to address the event, issue, or policy to create a more equitable and just system of higher education?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Within their current or future roles, how are they\/can they play a role in the change necessary to address the event, issue, or policy?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Part One: Historical Analysis Paper (15 Points)<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 40px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Length: 6-8 pages, double-spaced&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Write an essay providing an overview of the event, issue, or policy you chose and analyzing it through the various historical lenses and themes discussed in the class.
