\ncommunication, critical thinking, personal responsibility, and social
\nresponsibility. The primary sources analysis constitutes 20% or 200 points of
\nyour maximum points of 1000. The research paper is due on Friday, May 5 at
\nmidnight. Send your primary sources analysis attached to an email to <\/span>Cporrua@epcc.edu<\/span><\/a> no later than the due date.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

PRIMARY SOURCE: <\/span><\/b>The primary source you are going to analyze
\nis Randolph S. Bourne, \u201cTrans-national America\u201d (1916). You may find it on page
\n759 on your textbook, Give Me Liberty<\/u>. Read the section \u201cWho is an
\nAmerican? And answer the question accordingly based on the text and the primary
\nsource.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION:  <\/span><\/span><\/b>This project is about learning to do professional analysis.
\nYou will be graded on your ability for written communication.  <\/span>Written communication is 25% of the final
\ngrade. If you use other sources to analyze the primary source, cite the sources.
\nPlease cite every source checked.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

CRITICAL
\nTHINKING: <\/span><\/b>You
\nwill be graded on your degree of inquiry and analysis of the text you are
\nassigned to read. Critical thinking constitutes 25% of your grade.  <\/span>What is the main point of the article and\/or
\nwhat is the author trying to prove?  <\/span>How
\nis the topic handle? Is this a positive or negative view?         <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

PERSONAL RESPONSABILITY:  <\/span><\/span><\/b>Incorporate your informed opinion in your
\npaper.  <\/span>You will be graded 25% of your
\nfinal grade on your ability to recognize your cultural background in relation
\nto the book\u2019s topic. This is also called ethical reasoning.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: <\/span><\/b>As part of your informed
\nopinion include an analysis of the culture in which this author and you are
\noperating.  <\/span>This is called Intercultural
\nKnowledge and it counts for the final 25% of the grade.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

FORMAT: <\/span><\/b>The primary source analysis must have a title page,
\nlisting the paper\u2019s title, and the student\u2019s name, instructor\u2019s name, the class
\nnumber, and the day(s) and times of the week the class meets.  <\/span>If the classes are online, say so. Number the
\npages at the top right corner or centered at the bottom of the page.  <\/span>The title page is not numbered.  <\/span>Your essay must have 3 to 5 pages<\/u><\/b>.
\nUse the regular format of your word processing software with a 12 font. The
\ncover page and bibliography are extra pages not to be included in your minimum
\nof 3 to 5 pages.  <\/span>Spell check and edit
\nyour paper carefully.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

BIBLIOGRAPHY:<\/span><\/b>  <\/span>A
\nbibliography is required to be included as the last page of the book review.  <\/span>Make sure to cite the book you are reviewing
\nand the individual source. You must
\ncite all the sources used in a correct format at the end of the paper in a
\ndifferent page titled Bibliography.  <\/span><\/b><\/span>Concentrate on getting the right
\ncitation format for online sources. <\/u><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Please use Chicago Manual of Style or MLA citation
\nmethods.  <\/span>A guideline exists at The
\nWriting Center @ University of Wisconsin site. Go to The Writer\u2019s Handbook at <\/span>http:\/\/www.wisc.edu\/writing\/Handbook<\/span><\/a>.  <\/span>Once on this page look for the link to \u201cCite
\nReferences in Your Paper.\u201d Then look for the link \u201cChicago\/Turabian
