To measure a psychological construct, we typically use scales that have
\nbeen found to assess the presence and\/or degree of a construct. <\/span><\/p>\n

You are presented with a selection of approved psychological constructs,
\nand where applicable the corresponding scales that measure these constructs.
\nYou are tasked with selecting at least
\ntwo<\/b> constructs [at least one should utilize a scale], generating a testable
\nhypothesis about the relationship\/interaction of these constructs, collecting
\ndata using the provided scales and compose a brief report of your methods and
\nfindings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Final Data Project should follow the following guidelines:<\/span><\/p>\n

Use this template to
\ncomplete your final paper. <\/span><\/b><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Begin with an introduction
\n– a presentation of background empirical research on your constructs. You are
\nprovided with at least one journal article on the topic(s), you must find at least 3 additional <\/b><\/span>empirical sources<\/span><\/b><\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

a)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>This should be composed
\ninto a literature review format [<\/span>http:\/\/writingcenter.unc.edu\/handouts\/literature-reviews\/<\/span><\/a>] and culminate in a testable hypothesis
\nstatement <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

b)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Introduction should be at
\nleast 2 pages<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

2)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>A Methods section with <\/span><\/p>\n

a)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>a description of all
\nconstructs [your project should include at
\nleast two<\/i> well defined constructs], including the operational definitions
\nand discussion of the scales\/tests utilized in the measurement of these
\nconstructs. <\/span><\/p>\n

                                            
\n<\/span>i)         
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Where applicable, validity and reliability statistics
\nshould be reported for the instruments<\/span><\/p>\n

b)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>A description of the
\nprocedures used to collect these data, including the demographics of the sample
\nused [age, gender], and procedures [how the instruments were administered<\/span><\/p>\n

c)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Methods should be at
\nleast 1 page<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

3)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>A results section
\nincluding <\/span><\/p>\n

a)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Tables and graphs
\nillustrating the results. <\/span><\/p>\n

b)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>At least one<\/span><\/b> of the following statistical tests must be run.
\nRelated test statistics, P values, and effect sizes must be reported. (at
\nleast  <\/span>1 page)<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>An independent sample t test<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>A correlation coefficient<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>An analysis of variance<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>A chi square [test of independence]<\/span><\/p>\n

4)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>A reflection composed in a
\ndiscussion section format, of the results and how they relate to background
\nresearch, and what implications there might be for future studies. In this
\nsection, you should demonstrate course concepts related to critical thinking
\nand a clear understanding of the scientific method (at least 1 page).<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

5)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Your total project should
\nbe at least 5-7 pages [not including appendices for tables\/graphs, or reference
\npage].<\/span><\/p>\n

6)     <\/span><\/span><\/span>The final submitted paper
\nshould be formatted as an APA style paper: <\/span>https:\/\/owl.purdue.edu\/owl\/research_and_citation\/apa_style\/apa_formatting_and_style_guide\/general_format.html<\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
