Design a recreation\/sports facility and program in the city in your hometown. Plans are to be submitted in a<\/span>

A. Survey<\/span>
Interview 3 individuals* from the following age groups:<\/span>
1 – parent with children under the age of 13<\/span>
1 – adult age 18-35<\/span>
1 – adult age 35-55<\/span>
Include:<\/span>
1. Name of each person<\/span>
2. City where they grew up<\/span>
3. City they currently reside.<\/span>
*Individuals must come from the city in which you are designing<\/span>
the facility. Individuals are not to be relatives.<\/span>
B. Location<\/span>
1. City demographics (populatons, average income, parks, etc.)<\/span>
2. Site location strengths\/weaknesses<\/span>
C. Existing Facilties<\/span>
– Local competition<\/span>
– Present number of facilities within a 20 min drive (list each and what they offer)<\/span>
– Area sports programs<\/span>
– Number of competitors who have opened or closed doors – why?<\/span>
– Youth vs. Adult programs<\/span>
D. Business Plan<\/span>
1. What is the purpose of your facility?<\/span>
2. What type of programs will you provide for each age group? How will you schedule the programs?<\/span>
3. Business partnerships<\/span>
4. Budgeting<\/span>
a. What are your revenue streams? (Be specific)<\/span>
b. What are your expenses?<\/span>
c. What are your employee expenses?<\/span>
d. What is your business structure?<\/span>
E. Facility Design<\/span>
Hand draw<\/span> <\/span>to scale<\/span> <\/span>the recreational building and fields. Plans must include court dimensions.<\/span>
The facility must match your business plan. Remember \u201cdesign follows function.\u201d<\/span>
F. Facility Equipment and Fields Research<\/span> <\/span>(from your earlier assignment) in your packet.<\/span>
G. Equipment and Design Decisions.<\/span>
From your \u201cFacility Equipment and Fields,\u201d list your facility design decisions, price AND the reason for selecting.<\/span>

Business Plan – How will you financially structure your facility. Explain your reasoning.<\/p>\n

List projected program revenues and expenses, (You do not have to include the cost of your building your facility.)<\/p>\n

Floor Plan – Draw to 1:5 scale your facility and at least one athletic field. Include doors, windows, restrooms, courts,  etc.<\/p>\n

Use a ruler and graph paper which will be provided to you. <\/p>\n
