For this assignment, you will choose three of the readings we have covered in class and reflect on how they intersect with ideas in society today. This is your opportunity to discuss not only readings that spoke to you, but to show a deeper sense of why the readings are important to us today. What common American ideals do you see in it? We are often told that America stands for individual independence, democratic ideals, justice and liberty, etc. And these things can carry their positives and negatives, just as some of our readings display positive and negative concepts of humanity. In 5 pages, I would like for you to summarize readings we have covered, connect them to common \u201cAmerican ideas\u201d today (whatever you think they are), and explain how they can inform our deeper understand of society today.<\/span><\/p>\n
