Conduct research to identify several ethical conflicts that a historical figure faced, the values they held, the ethical (or unethical) choices they made, and the ethical concepts, systems, or codes linked to these choices. Integrate at least<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"cursor: auto;\">three readings from the course<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>(one may be a lecture) into this final product.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">Select one person from the list below and research their life using relevant biographies or general histories.<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">You must consult at least two books and\/or articles from academic journals about your historical figure. Magazine articles, book reviews, encyclopedias, or on-line sources may be consulted, but these should not be the major sources of information that you use<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong>to write a 6-8 page (double-spaced, 12 point, 1-inch margins) essay that identifies:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-left: 25px; font-size: 16px; cursor: auto;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">several of the ethical conflicts that this person faced,<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">the values that they held,<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">the ethical or unethical choices that they made, in other words, acting for the public good in opposition to self-interest,<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">and the ethical concepts, systems or codes that are linked to these choices (<strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">make references to specific course readings<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">What did this person risk and why, which decisions<span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto;\">do you disagree or agree<\/strong><span style=\"cursor: auto;\">&nbsp;<\/span>with and why?<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto;\">To what extent can the person be considered non-conformist?<\/li>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto;\">A guide to consulting sources:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto;\">In evaluating potential sources, pay particular attention to writings by the person you are researching, such as memoirs, letters, autobiographies, speeches, etc. which might provide insight into your assessment of the motivations for ethical actions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto;\">Be sure to bring in relevant materials and ideas from the course to provide a broader context to your discussion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto;\">Scan this list of suggested historical figures and chose one<\/span>.
