See the examples (e.g.,) I provided for better understanding.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Introductory Paragraph with Thesis (Claim and Reason): (e.g.,) The American government should lift economic sanctions against Iraq, because this policy does more harm than good for both countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Body<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Present Your First Point with Evidence:  (e.g., Point: The sanctions have not accomplished their goal. Evidence: Saddam Hussein is still in power; other dictators have withstood sanctions (Fidel Castro).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Present Your Second  Point with Evidence:  (e.g., Point: Rather than hurting Saddam, the sanctions only make life worse for the common people of Iraq. Restrictions on medicine and food hurt the poorest people first.)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>1st Opposing View and Strategy of Response: (e.g., Point: Sanctions are necessary to prevent Iraq from supporting terrorists and becoming a regional problem again. Strategy for Response (compromise by conceding): The United States wants to prevent more conflict and stop terrorism, but we should lift sanctions gradually and maintain a military presence in Iraq.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>2nd Opposing View and Strategy of Response: (e.g., Point: Lifting sanctions would make the U.S. look weak.  Strategy for Response (rebuttal): It is the humane and fair action to take; also, sanctions contribute to hatred of the United States and encourage terrorist sentiment.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Conclusion:  End with a conclusion that suggests the larger importance of this issue, and why we should care. Create a final paragraph that is powerful and memorable. You should answer the \u201cso what\u201d question.
