 For this assignment, you will be exploring a topic or issue that exists in the area of academic study you are interested in. You want to find a topic that many people are having discussions about; for example, intervention programs with youth who are at risk of engaging in criminal activity. To be successful in writing this paper, you should be looking for “gaps” that exist in the current research on your chosen topic. By gaps, I mean specific areas that need more critical attention than they have so far received; these gaps will allow you a point at which you can enter the academic conversation with the research project that you propose.
