The topic of the research paper will be any disease or condition that could affect the body. (However, limit your topic to some disease or condition that can be discussed in 2000 words or so. Do NOT choose “cancer” or “diabetes mellitus” or “heart disease.”) The paper must include the following:<\/p>\n

– A thorough description of the disease\/condition<\/div>\n
– Current statistics of those affected<\/div>\n
– Causes, if known or suspected<\/div>\n
– Signs and symptoms of the disease or condition<\/div>\n
– Explanations on how the various body systems are affected<\/div>\n
– Any medications\/treatments that are available, if any.<\/div>\n

Your paper should be written in the THIRD PERSON taking the individual out of the writing and avoiding pronouns such as I, we, my, our (first person) and you, yours, your, us, we (second person). You should deal with facts and not opinions, thus providing citations within your paper and on your reference page. Focus on the subject itself and not on your feelings about the subject. The use of third person retains a formal tone in your writing. The use of first and second person can make a document seem more casual.<\/div>\n

The topic of the research paper will be any disease or condition of the body. The paper must include a thorough description of the disease\/condition; current statistics of those affected; explanations on how the various body systems are affected; and any medications\/treatments that are available, if any.\n<\/div>\n

\u2022\tThe paper should be complete and the main body should be 1000-1500 words in length (excluding cover page, abstract, references, etc.).\n<\/div>\n

\u2022\tUtilize at least five references (two of which must be from credible scientific organizations). You can use Internet articles, journals, text books, etc. In fact, I strongly recommend that you utilize the APUS Online Library for your research as they offer a plethora of reliable and pertinent research sources. You may access the Online Library by clicking on the \u201cOnline Library\u201d link on the menu inside the electronic classroom. However, you should NEVER use Wikipedia for your research as anyone can alter the information on this site making it a poor source of accurate information.\n<\/div>\n
\u2022\tUtilize one inch margins on all sides.\n<\/div>\n
\u2022\tDouble-space your paper.\n<\/div>\n
\u2022\tUse either an Arial or Times New Roman font in a 10 or 12 point font.\n<\/div>\n
\u2022\tInclude a cover page, an abstract, page headers, in-text citations, and a reference page.\n<\/div>\n
