Hello, I was given an assignment to read a book written by Trevor Noah, Born a Crime. I have to submit an essay by Wednesday morning, and the topic is mentioned above. My professor has emphasized on some readings based on in-group out-group stereotypes, othering and such. I have attached a drive link with all the documents and details needef for the essay. The essay topic is as follows:<\/div>\n
“Much of Trevor Noah\u2019s memoir Born a Crime explores how people are divided by their differences, e.g. differences in skin color, language, tribe, economic status, etc. Research the terms in-group and out-group, and write an essay using Born a Crime that examines Trevor\u2019s struggle to find a sense of belonging within multiple groups. What causes people to exclude those who are different from themselves, and how can we do better?”<\/p>\n

We are supposed to choose one specific topic, say for example Language and how that itself consumes the whole essay topic or say Religion is based off the whole toic. We have to include our personal experience or from the book, quotes from other sites with citations mentioned below the essay, typically just how a college essay should be written. I personally would like my main theme to be about language because as I read the book I felt Trevor knew so many languages yet he faced a hard time fitting in all the group, he felt like he did not belong anywhere. YOu may also connect it with race, as he was a “coloured child”. The essay should not be completely a book review or anything like that. It should include realistic paragraphs that connect with the essay topic and how people may or may not consider language to “other” or offend peoplebecause they are not the same as them. <\/div>\n
